Deborah Slater Dance Theater is seeking a part-time Communications Associate to join our small team.  The Associate will manage our social media accounts, maintain our website, and create marketing materials for DSDT and Studio 210.  This position is an opportunity to stretch creatively, learn new skills, and help improve the outreach and engagement of a long-time Bay Area institution.  Work will be conducted remotely and the Associate will need their own computer, internet connection, and space to work.  This is a contract position for 10-15 hours per week at $17 per hour.

Job Duties 

  • Social Media and Marketing (70%)
    • Create social media content, update social media accounts on a weekly basis, and engage with audiences on social media
    • Create email newsletters in collaboration with the Executive and Managing Directors
    • Help maintain Vimeo and Flickr accounts
  • Website (15%)
    • Manage and install updates
    • Help improve SEO
    • Add/delete events 
    • Keep website media and copy current
  • Graphic Design (10%)
    • Create postcards, flyers, posters, and programs for events 
    • Create graphics for use in email newsletters and on social media
  • Public Relations (5%)
    • Maintain updated press list
    • Upload PR statements

Desired Skills

  • Good working knowledge of Facebook and Instagram with an understanding of how to create engaging content,  optimize post views and shares, and increase engagement
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, MailChimp preferred
  • Familiarity with maintaining websites, experience with WordPress a plus
  • Experience with and a good working knowledge of G Suite, specifically Drive, Gmail, and Docs
  • Graphic design experience and familiarity with Adobe Creative or online tools such as Canva a plus
  • Ability to work independently and manage own deadlines
  • Creative and willing to learn new skills
  • Familiarity with dance/performing arts preferred
