Deborah Slater Dance Theater - THE SLEEPWATCHERS

THE SLEEPWATCHERS (2001)
those who watch those who sleep

Conceived, choreographed and directed by Deborah Slater with co-director Jim Cave, THE SLEEPWATCHERS takes the audience surfing across the brainwaves of Stanford Sleep Specialist Dr. William Dement, best known for his theories on the profound effect of sleep loss as it affects contemporary society's mental and physical well being.

Probing that most unguarded and intimate of experiences, The Sleepwatchers takes an interior journey in an intensely physicalized form, examining how sleep affects our sense of time, culture, and relationships. Visually beautiful, emotionally funny and poignant, THE SLEEPWATCHERS is a parable for our sleep-deprived times.
